Watermelon, botanically known as Citrullus lanatus is a sweet and refreshing fruit that evolved from Southern Africa. It has lots of nutrients, few calories, and enough water. It therefore adds so many benefits to the body such as improving the sensitivity of insulin or reducing blood sugar.
Aside from eating watermelons as fresh fruit, it can be used in making creative and decorative delicacies such as watermelon cup, juice or smoothies.
Why should you make a watermelon cup?
Watermelon cups are sumptuous and nutritional appetizers, that neither has fat nor protein but contains just about 6 calories and very few grams of carbohydrate and it takes about 25mins to prepare.
INGREDIENTS:
Cucumber
Fresh Mint
Lime Juice
Red Onion
Seedless Watermelon
DIRECTION FOR PREPARATION:
Step 1:
Cut the seedless watermelon into cubes 1-2-inch-thick with a large knife.
Step 2:
The next step will be to scoop out the center of each slice (thickness should be a little over 2-inch) to form the cup.
Step 3:
The scoops or pulps are placed in another bowl for other purposes such as fruit juice, etc. Other ingredients such as the fresh mint, cucumber, and red onion are chopped and minced, then mixed with the lime.
Step 4:
With a small spoon, scoop the mixture into each watermelon cup and chill until ready to use.
