Chocolate-Covered Cherry Old Fashioned

Skip the candy aisle and rethink the usual box of chocolates—this Valentine’s Day, romance is better served in a glass. Designed as a slow-sipping indulgence, this spin on an Old Fashioned captures the spirit of the holiday with rich, comforting flavors that feel celebratory without being overly sweet. Prep Time:5 mins
Yields:1 serving(s)

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1 fresh cherry
  • 2 oz. bourbon
  • 1/2 oz. cherry syrup
  • 1/4 oz. clear chocolate liqueur
  • 3 dashes of Angostura bitters
  • Ice

Directions

Step 1

In a small microwave-safe cup or bowl, microwave chocolate chips in 10-second increments, stirring between each, until melted and smooth, about 30 seconds total.

Step 2

Dip cherry into chocolate, letting excess drip off. Arrange on a parchment-lined plate and refrigerate until set, about 30 minutes. Reserve remaining chocolate for another use (or dip more cherries!).

Step 3

In a medium mixing glass or measuring cup, combine bourbon, syrup, liqueur, and bitters, then fill glass with ice. Stir until chilled, about 10 seconds.

Step 4

Strain into a rocks glass filled with a 2″ ice cube. Garnish with chocolate-covered cherry.

Notes:

Built on a bold bourbon base and layered with cherry syrup, chocolate liqueur, and bitters, the result is decadent yet beautifully balanced.

Serve it over ice in a classic rocks glass and finish with a chocolate-dipped cherry for a polished, boozy treat that proves the best gifts aren’t wrapped—they’re poured.
